ARTIST STATEMENT

Reuben Greene, a resident of Seattle, Washington, has always considered himself an international man. From his first trip to France, to years working in francophone Africa to travels to over thirty countries, he has eagerly anticipated and relished every opportunity to see the world, its natural beauty and the cultures which give it its unending variety.

For him, the greatest wonders are natural, the ones created for mankind to protect and preserve. Simply, the mysteries of the ant are as fascinating as that of the far-reaching mountain or of a giant redwood or a newborn child. They are all forms of inexpressible beauty.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Reuben is fascinated with the messages emanating from the faces of nature. And, the faces of people. He spent two remarkable years in Saudi Arabia, befriending native Saudis as well as the various peoples from other countries who work and live there.

But, the brilliant and often stark landscape and the mosaic of animal and plant life were every bit as influential in composing the indelible influence of Arabia. One cannot visit the Arabian Peninsula without
being strongly touched by it. It becomes a part of you, whether you are consciously aware of it not.

Presented here is a kaleidoscope of images that includes Saudi, East Indian, Pakistani, Afghani and Bangladeshi cultures. The faces are dynamic and expressive. The land and architecture add layers of
richness. Saudi Arabia is an exotic land, a mysterious land. But, also one of intense and penetrating beauty.
